What is Entropy?

Entropy, measured in "bits," is a value that represents the randomness or unpredictability of your password. A higher entropy value means a more secure password that is exponentially harder to guess or "brute-force." Our analyzer uses the `zxcvbn` model to find the weakest link, or most guessable pattern, to give you a real-world entropy score.

What is Crack Time?

We show the "offline fast hashing" crack time, which assumes a powerful attacker has stolen a database and can make 10 billion guesses per second. This is the industry-standard worst-case scenario to measure against.
